Neighbors Help Catch Odenton Burglary Suspect

Police charged James Hayes, 42, of Adelphi, after witnesses said he broke into a home and stole items on Kilarney Terrace.

Residents near Kilarney Terrace in Odenton helped police officers nab a burglary suspect on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they responded shortly after noon to the 2400 block of Kilarney Terrace and spoke with witnesses who reported seeing a man break into a home then drive off. Using that information, officers were able to find the suspect stopped in his car nearby. Other witnesses reported seeing the man throw items out of his car, and officers were able to recover some of the stolen items.

Police arrested James Hayes, 42, of Adelphi, MD and charged him with first- and third-degree burglary, theft of under $1,000 and destruction of property over $500.
