New Flights At BWI Airport: Southwest Adds 6 Routes To West Coast
Six new flights are coming to BWI Airport. Southwest Airlines will fly travelers nonstop to these West Coast cities.

LINTHICUM, MD — Southwest Airlines announced Wednesday that it will add six new nonstop flights next summer from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Starting June 5, 2025, Southwest will take travelers between BWI Airport and:
- Long Beach, California
- Ontario, California
- Portland, Oregon
- San Francisco, California
- San Jose, California
- Seattle, Washington
"These new flights will foster tourism and business development for our state and region," BWI Airport Executive Director and CEO Ricky Smith said in a Wednesday press release. "We are working to enhance the travel product for our customers while creating more opportunities for air service from our airline partners."

The new flights "will operate into BWI Marshall as overnight, red-eye flights." They join six other red-eye flights to BWI Airport previously announced by Southwest. Those other red-eye flights include:
- Denver, Colorado
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Los Angeles, California
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Sacramento, California
- San Diego, California
BWI Airport is Southwest's busiest East Coast hub. The budget carrier flew 18.3 million passengers last year at BWI Airport. Southwest has over 5,200 employees in the local market.

The latest routes will arrive at a reimagined BWI Airport. The travel hub is currently constructing a direct connection between Concourses A and B and installing an upgraded baggage handling system. This is the largest capital project in the airport's history.
The project will also expand seating areas at gates, remodel restrooms and add space for food and retail businesses.
BWI Airport is the busiest in the National Capital Region with about 300 daily nonstop flights to roughly 90 domestic and international destinations. The airport generates a total economic impact of $11.3 billion. BWI and its visitors produce and support more than 107,000 jobs throughout the region.
