FORT MEADE, MD — Meade Middle School will be closed Monday in Anne Arundel County because of "an unidentified strong odor at the school," officials said.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools announced the news just after 8 a.m. Emergency crews were on site, investigating the source of the odor, as of that time.

Spokesperson Bob Mosier said AACPS made the decision "out of an abundance of caution and to prevent students and staff from potentially being outside in frigid temperatures this morning."
