Woman, Tiny Dog Rescued from Flooded Road

High waters forced the closure of the road near Ridge Road and Furnace Road in Hanover.

Firefighters came to the rescue of a woman who was trapped in her car in rising waters in Hanover.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said it responded to a 911 call at about 11:45 a.m. Friday, department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser said. They arrived to find a woman trapped in her car along with a small terrier dog.

Crews conducted a swift water rescue and were able to bring the woman and dog to dry land in about 40 minutes. No one was hurt.

Anne Arundel County Police were on the scene to close the road to traffic, Kooser said.
