Being a caregiver of older adults is difficult, so the Baltimore County Department of Aging is holding a conference to highlight where to get support.
The Caregivers Program will hold a half-day conference on April 13 at the Parkville Senior Center, 8601 Harford Rd., according to a news release from the department.
The doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and the event ends at 1 p.m.

Caregivers can learn about resources available that can help keep seniors at home longer, and maintain the wellbeing of the caregiver, the release states.
According to the release, guest speakers include:

- Diane Martin, Ph.D., academic director of the Center for the Study of Aging and a visiting assistant professor of gerontology at McDaniel College.
- Dr. Alva Baker, director of the Center for the Study of Aging and a gerontology faculty member
Conference topics include:
- Promoting Emotional Health. Discussion about risk factors and interventions
- Understanding Challenging Behaviors
- Sensitive Subjects. Discussions of driving, moving, finances and loss
- How to keep a sense of humor
Department staff will be on site to offer one-to-one consultations on a first-come, first-served basis, the release states.
The event is free and open to the public with no pre-registration required.
A complementary lunch will be served at noon.
Respite care will not be provided.
