In light of Sunland Inc's recall of nut butter products last month, Newman's Own Organics is recalling some of its sandwich creme cookies because the products might be contaminated with salmonella.
The "organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems," according to a news release from the federal Food and Drug Administration.
It's a voluntary, limited recall, the release states.
