Investors May Buy Majority Stake in Jewish Times
Baltimore Business Journal reports that a group of investors wants to acquire 80 percent of Alter Communications.

Dr. Scott Rifkin leads a group of investors that proposes to take a majority share in Alter Communications, the company that publishes The Baltimore Jewish Times.
According to an article in the Baltimore Business Journal, Alter Communications, owned by the Buerger family, is under bankruptcy protection.
The family as published the newspaper for 92 years, the article states.

Rifkin's name is familiar in Pikesville because, last spring, his Timonium-based company, Mid-Atlantic Health Care, announced that it planned to buy in Pikesville.

That did not occur, though, a member of the community's marketing department said Thursday.
"The buyer and seller could not come to terms," Dan Rexford said. North Oaks is still owned by North Oaks Real Estate Partnership.
Rifkin ran against Bobby Zirkin for the state Senate in the 2006 Democratic Primary election. Rifkin's brother is a member of the lobbying/law firm Rifkin, Livingston, Levitan and Silver.
