Pikesville's Elementary Schools Vary in State Testing Results
Summit Park aces 2012 Maryland State Assessment testing in both reading and math, while Wellwood International logs a few decreases in both.

Most Pikesville area elementary schools exceeded the state and county averages for Maryland State Assessment testing, but some grade levels fell short.
Countywide, elementary schools generally performed above the statewide averages. That rings true for Pikesville elementary schools, as well, but with some exceptions.
Nearly every Pikesville elementary school exceeded the state averages for reading and math: 88.2 percent of students being at proficient or advanced levels in reading, and 87.7 percent in math.

Summit Park stood out from all the rest, though, as it exceeded all county and state averages at all grade levelsβthird through fifthβin reading and math.
In all but one score, the school garnered the highest possible scores of greater than or equal to 95 percent of its students as proficient.
The only exception at Summit was its third-grade reading score of 92.4 percent, which is still well above state and county averages.
However, some grade levels at some schools fell short of both state and county averages.
For example, fell short for math and reading, with the exception of fourth-grade students who scored 94.9 percent proficient in reading, and 89.8 percent of fourth-graders' passed proficiency in math.
And at Winand Elementary, while 88.3 percent of fourth-graders scored proficient in reading, the third-grade reading logged a lower-than-county-average of 74.3 percent.
And in math, only 56.9 percent of Winand fifth-gradersβthat's 41 students out of 71βscored as proficient.
