Police Investigate Spate of Copper Thefts

Crimes have been occurring in the Pikesville and Woodlawn precincts, according to a police statement.

Twelve incidents of copper thefts from vacant homes has spurred police to investigate, according to a statement from Baltimore County police.

Since Dec. 8, these thefts have occurred in the Woodlawn and Pikesville precincts.

Police have released the following information about the thefts:

  • The times of day vary
  • Each theft has taken several hours to accomplish
  • Copper pipes or items containing copper, such as wires, were stolen
  • Thieves take the copper to a scrap dealer where it's sold
  • The thefts leave structural damage

Police ask anyone with information, or anyone who sees suspicious people or vehicles around unoccupied homes in their neighborhood, to call police at 410-307-2020.
