Our speaker, Jim Johnston, is a lawyer, writer and lecturer who resides in Potomac. 
Late in his life, former president Lyndon B. Johnson told a reporter that he didn't believe the Warren Commission's finding that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing President John F. Kennedy. Johnson thought Cuban president Fidel Castro was behind it. After all, Johnson said, Kennedy was running "a damned Murder, Inc., in the Caribbean," giving Castro reason to retaliate. Guitarist, bassist, composer and director Joshua Bayer has performed at venues such as The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Detroit Opera House, Blues Alley, The Harlem Renaissance Festival, The World Jazz Festival, The Phillips Collection, The Contemporary Theater Festival, The One Step Down, New York Museum Of Modern Art, National Public Radio, and Philadelphia's Chris's Jazz Café. Besides being featured on BET on Jazz and performing original new jazz with the Joshua Bayer Quartet, Josh has played with jazz artists Neal Creque, Dick Lurie, Gary Thomas, Ron Holloway, Marty Nau, The Federal Jazz Commission, and Chris Vadala. Josh's recordings can be found on the Jazzheads and Interlace Records labels. His compositions have been published by C.F. Peters and LightHouse Music. Josh has earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Music in Composition from Cleveland State University. A teacher and clinician, Josh serves on the faculty of American University, where he is Musician in Residence and director of AU Jazz Studies
 Josh has received grants and awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, ASCAP, The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, The Prince George's Arts Council, The Maryland Summer Institute for the Creative and Performing Arts, The Loyola Composition Competition, and the Bascom Little Fund

Vintage Holiday Christmas show on Thursday 12/18/25
Patsy Stephens and The Hall Brothers, as Patsy’s Honky Tonk Torch &amp; Twang, perform classic country and honky tonk music in the Baltimore/Washington and surrounding area. They mix it up with some other styles thrown in for good measure…a little Western swing, some rockabilly, 50s/60s rock ‘n’ roll, a few jazz standards, and plenty of Patsy Cline! “We have it all…a little torch…a little twang!” 
Patsy’s Honky Tonk Torch &amp; Twang was nominated by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) for a 2014 Wammie for Best Country Band, and our own Chick Hall, Jr. won yet another Wammie for Best Country Instrumentalist for 2014. We were also nominated in 2015 for: Best Country Vocalist (Patsy), Best Country Band, and Best Country Instrumentalist (Chick). 
Patsy’s band: The fabulous Hall Brothers…WAMA award winner Chick Hall Jr. and Chris Hall, come from a musical background…their father, Chick Hall Sr., owned and operated Chick Hall’s Surf Club in Hyattsville, Maryland. They grew up playing music in a honky tonk! You can’t get more real than that. Chick Hall, Jr. has won numerous Wammie awards for his stellar guitar playing, and has played guitar on tour for some famous singers and musicians - Ronnie Dove, Johnny Lee, Lori Morgan and Ace Cannon! We have Tommy Auldridge on pedal steel. Tommy also came from a musical family. (Tommy’s brother, the late Mike Auldridge, played Dobro for the Seldom Scene.) And, keeping the beat on drums is Mike Toole. All excellent musicians!

Featuring Sarah Bonner, Caroline Alderson and rhythm guitarist/baritone singer Steve Devoney, recreate the vintage sound of the great 50s-60s sister, brother and boy-girl harmony groups. Along with classic country acts like the Davis Sisters and the Browns, they revive swinging sister trios from the Fontane Sisters, doo wop gems, and pop harmony hits from the Chordettes, Fleetwoods and Everlys.
