Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church New Labyrinth to Severna Park Community

The dedication is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13 at noon.

On Sunday, November 13 at noon, Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church is dedicating its newly-constructed labyrinth to the Severna Park community. The labyrinth (lab-uh- rinth) is a circular pathway designed for personal, psychological and spiritual transformation. The dedication will take place on the Woods Campus on the grounds of the Woods Counseling & Care Center, 8 Cypress Creek Road, Severna Park, Maryland.

The Labyrinth at Woods was bequeathed to the Church by Elizabeth and Jerry Wyble. Their wish was that it be a source of comfort to the Woods congregation and to the entire Severna Park community. Steve and Betsy Wyble and the Wyble Family share that vision and have devoted time and resources to ensure that the labyrinth is aesthetically in keeping with Elizabeth and Jerry’s high standards.

The Labyrinth at Woods is a modern adaptation of the medieval labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. It is open to all for personal, psychological and spiritual transformation. It can be used for a multitude of purposes by people of all ages, including individual spiritual connection, therapeutic and healing processes, church retreats, youth and school groups, and much more.

Workshops on the history, purpose and benefits of labyrinth walking will be scheduled at the Woods Counseling & Care Center in the near future. In addition to members of the congregation, attendees will include business and civic leaders in the Severna Park community and clergy from Severna Park area churches. The (approximately 20-min.) dedication ceremony will be followed by a brief reception.
