A burglary alarm call turned out to be a drug bust for a rookie Takoma Park Police officer, <a href="http://www.gazette.net/article/20120724/NEWS/707249974/1081/rookie-officer-makes-one-of-largest-drug-busts-in-takoma-park&amp;template=gazette" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">according to a report in The Gazette</a>. On July 19 Officer Travis Ala arrived on the scene in the 500 block of Belford Place to answer a call of a burglary alarm. The call led to the officer finding and seizing two black trash bags full of marijuana. The bags contained 18.8 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $106,000.
