Crime Report: 15 August Burglaries

Most of the burglaries took place during the day and early evening.

Eight happened in the city in July and 15 in August. Here's a breakdown of the August incidents, in reverse chronological order:

Aug. 30: In the 7500 block of Central Avenue burglars entered through an unlocked rear door around 1:23 p.m. Nothing was taken.

Aug. 27: Around 1:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue, burglars gained entrance through an open window and took a laptop, a suitcase and personal paperwork.

Aug. 27: A front door was forced open and a Nintendo Wii and jewelry were taken from a house in the 40 block of Columbia Avenue around 8 a.m.

Aug. 27: In the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue, burglars walked through an open front door around 7:15 a.m. and took a 20-inch gold chain.

Aug. 27: A burglar removed the screen of an unlocked window around 6:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue, but nothing was taken.

Aug. 24: Around 12:15 p.m. burglars forced open the side and front doors of a house in the 7400 block of Wildwood Avenue, but no property was taken.

Aug. 19: A burglar pried open a rear door in the 30 block of Philadelphia Avenue around 7:30 a.m. and took jewelry and a camera.

Aug. 18: A window was pried open in the 8000 block of Maple Avenue around 1 a.m., but no property was taken.

Aug. 16: A suspect gained entry by kicking in a door in the 100 block of Elm Avenue around 8 p.m. Jewelry was taken.

Aug. 16: An Apple laptop and a Playstation 3 were stolen from a house in the 7900 block of Kennewick Avenue. The suspects gained entry by removing the screen on an unlocked window.

Aug. 13: Around 2 p.m., suspects broke into a house in the 7200 block of 13th Avenue through a basement window. No property was taken.

Aug. 13: Around 9 a.m. in the 6700 block of Prince George's Avenue, a front door was kicked in and two laptops, two camcorders, two electric keyboards and a large TV were stolen.

Aug. 13: A house was broken into in the 1100 block of Larch Avenue around 8:45 a.m. The front door was kicked in, but no property was taken.

Aug. 10: Suspects broke into a house in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue by prying open the side door around 9:30 a.m. Property taken included coins, a checkbook, eight watches, keys, a camera, a laptop, Blue Moon beer and soda.

Aug. 4: Suspects broke into a house in the 1400 block of Erskine Avenue and stole an 18-inch white Samsung TV around 4:50 p.m. There was no sign of forced entry.
