An organization has been soliciting for money by telephone on behalf of the Takoma Park Police, but police aren't asking for any funds, the department said. The funds the organization is soliciting for include a Police Protective Fund and a Police Memorial Fund for fallen officers. "The Takoma Park Police Department does not solicit money for any such cause, nor do we endorse any charity organization(s) that solicits funds or any other donations for the benefit of fallen officers," police said.  Police advise not provide any personal information, money, checks or credit card information to the alleged organization.
