Woman Struck By Car on Piney Branch Succumbs to Injuries

This morning, the woman who was struck in a hit-and-run died.

A 22-year-old-woman who was struck by a car the evening of Sept. 23 on Carroll Avenue died Tuesday morning due to injuries from the accident, Montgomery County Police said.

Danny Elizabeth Alay-Mateo, a Silver Spring resident, was in the northbound portion of the roadway of the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue. Preliminary investigation showed there was no reason behind the hit-and-run, police said.

 A 1994-998 GMC Jimmy, Chevy S-10 pick-up truck, Chevy Blazer or Oldsmobile Bravada  struck her and failed to stop and remain at the scene.

The vehicle could possibly have minimal damage to the right front headlight, the hood and the windshield, police said.  The right side exterior mirror was located at the scene and the plastic housing compartment is believed to still be attached to the vehicle.
