Burglars Steal From 92-Year-Old Woman

Another deception burglary was reported to local police last week.

One man posing as a “water department” official robbed a senior Lutherville-Timonium woman last week, adding to the ongoing issue of deception burglaries between Lutherville and North County.

The suspect—who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s—knocked on the 92-year-old woman’s door in the 2100 block of Suburban Greens Drive around noon on Sept. 24.

The suspect informed the woman that he needed to check the water in her basement and that she needed to accompany him downstairs, according to a police incident summary.

The woman obliged.

As the suspect led the woman downstairs, his partner ran inside and upstairs. The partner stole an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry, according to the report.

In August, deception burglars posing as landscapers carried out a similar heist at the home of a 90-year old woman. The same "landscaper" ploy was used against a 91-year-old in mid-September, although it is unclear if the incidents are connected.
