Lutherville CEO Claims Brava! Award

Cassie Shafer, president and CEO of the Lutherville-based National Kidney Foundation on Maryland was honored with the 2013 SmartCEO Brava! Women in Business award. 

The Baltimore Brava! Awards celebrates the achievement of women business leaders in the Greater Baltimore area, according to a news release. Shafer will be honored at the July 10 ceremony at the American Visionary Art Museum.  

"I am very honored to be selected for this award and celebrate with other Baltimore women who are also so well deserving," she said in the release.

Selected by local business leaders, nominees for the awards are required to be female executives leading companies that "generated at least $1 million in revenue, encourage local philanthropy, mentor fellow CEOs and set their companies on the path to tremendous growth," the release states. 

The award nomination submitted on her behalf states that "Cassie’s charismatic and dynamic management and leadership styles have brought new energy, direction, focus and available resources for NKF-MD in such a short period, which is absolutely phenomenal progress."
