Maryland State Fair Modifies Security Policy
There are some items you can't take past the gate in 2014.
Used to bringing a cooler with you to the Maryland State Fair?
Well, you'll have to leave it at home this year, or in your car.
Officials with the Maryland State Fair announced Friday they would not permit the following at the fairgrounds:
- Backpacks
- Large bags
- Coolers
- Wagons
- Wheeled carts
Searches may be necessary if people bring camera bags, diaper bags, purses and strollers, according to the Maryland State Fair.
Fair officials decided to make these security modifications in conjunction with Baltimore County and state emergency management authorities to better protect the fairgoers, according to a statement from the fair organizers.
The Maryland State Fair opens Friday, Aug. 22, and lasts until Monday, Sept. 1.
According to its official statement, the Maryland State Fair reserves the right to change its policies at any time and may refuse admission to or eject anyone it deems disorderly.
