University of Phoenix to Close Timonium Campus

The University of Phoenix Timonium campus is one of 115 locations that the college will be shuttering in light of a declining enrollment, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. 

The New York Times first reported Wednesday that the nation's largest for-profit college will close 115 locations, laying off about 800 employees and affecting about 13,000 students. 

Apollo Group Inc., which owns the University of Phoenix, is closing down the "lesser-performing campuses" in an effort to save more than $300 million, according to the Business Journal. The company will be keeping its Columbia, MD location open.
