University of Phoenix to Close Timonium Campus

The college is closing 115 locations nationwide.

The University of Phoenix Timonium campus is one of 115 locations that the college will be shuttering in light of a declining enrollment, the Baltimore Business Journal reports

The New York Times first reported Wednesday that the nation's largest for-profit college will close 115 locations, laying off about 800 employees and affecting about 13,000 students.

Apollo Group Inc., which owns the University of Phoenix, is closing down the "lesser-performing campuses" in an effort to save more than $300 million, according to the Business Journal. The company will be keeping its Columbia, MD location open.
