Two bars were fined and accused of serving alcohol to a minor in Baltimore County, reports said. The county is cracking down on liquor laws.

TOWSON, MD — Two more Towson bars were fined for serving an underage police cadet, reports said.
The Baltimore County Board of Liquor License Commissioners on Monday fined the Kent House Irish Pub $200 and World of Wine Tavern $750, The Baltimore Banner reported. Both businesses are located on York Road.

The Greene Turtle sports bar was at the forefront of the debate. The Banner previously reported that the Towson location's liquor license was suspended for each Thursday this October. The liquor board also fined the bar $1,000 for serving an underage police cadet, WBAL-TV said.
Greene Turtle CEO Geo Concepcion said the Towson location, which opened in 2022, will close by the end of the year because of struggles since ending its Thirsty Thursday promotions, The Banner reported.

Kent House and World of Wine said they made honest mistakes by serving the cadet.
WJZ reported that Kent House Owner George Georges said nobody under 21 is allowed inside his bar, but the cadet got inside while the doorman was running late. WJZ said the bartender then served the cadet without question, assuming they met the age requirement.
"We will increase our priority mindset on this. I will be very, very surprised if you see me here again," Georges said, committing to looking into an ID scanner, according to WJZ.
World of Wine Owner Gundeep Singh said the cadet was never carded, but they ordered four drinks and then passed them down, WJZ reported. Singh said the transaction happened in the afternoon when there was no security to check IDs on the bar side. WJZ said Singh is speaking with a vendor about buying an ID scanner for bartenders.
"I'll be calling them again and, if it's possible, then we will be able to scan the ID's," Singh said, according to WJZ. "The bartender will be able to scan the ID's with a handheld device."
