Baltimore Co. Public Library Ready To Aid Returning Students
As kids return to school, Baltimore County Public Library reminds everyone about its resources, including books, laptops and homework help.
TOWSON, MD — School begins next week in Baltimore County and across Maryland, and students and teachers will soon be knee-deep in homework and special projects. The Baltimore County Public Library is reminding students and teachers that it offers a variety of resources to help make the school year a success.
FOR STUDENTS
- Student accounts with no late fees: All Baltimore County Public School students are able to borrow up to five books in print, audio books, ebooks or e-audiobooks at one time and have access to BCPL’s online resources via their student identification number. No late fees are ever accrued with a student account.
- Homework help with Brainfuse: Students can chat online with tutors seven days per week from 2 p.m. to 11:55 p.m. Brainfuse’s writing lab allows students to upload a report or paper and have it returned with suggestions in 24 hours.
- World Book Student and World Book Kids: encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas, homework help, study aids and more.
- Print books, audio books, e-books, borrowable laptops, branch computers, free in-branch Wi-Fi and more!
- Science Reference Center: This contains the full text of hundreds of science magazines, journals, encyclopedias, reference books and a vast collection of images.
- Study rooms, many with dry erase boards in many of our branches that can be used for collaborating and group studying.
- Six branches that serve after-school snacks during their after-school programs (Lansdowne, Randallstown, Reisterstown, Rosedale, Sollers Point and Woodlawn).

- Teacher Loan Card: Teachers (homeschool too), librarians and childcare providers are eligible for this card, which loans materials for nine weeks and does not charge late fees. Materials are to be used for educational purposes. Teacher loan cards must be renewed each year, and now’s the time!
- Teacher Collections: Educators can request up to 100 items related to a specific topic for a nine-week loan period with no overdue fees. The materials are gathered and packaged by library staff for easy pickup.
- BCPL classroom visits: Teachers are encouraged to contact their local branch and ask for the school liaison. Classroom visits or school field trips to the library can be easily arranged.
- Of course, students and teachers can learn a second (or third!) language with Mango Languages any time from home.
The Baltimore County Public Library has been an anchor in the community since 1948 and continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of Baltimore County residents. Today, its 19 branches are safe zones, civic centers, technology hubs and spaces for ideas and learning.
