Baltimore County Offers Opioid Overdose Response Training
The Baltimore County Health Department is offering free training to treat opioid overdoses with naloxone (Narcan).

TOWSON, MD — The Baltimore County Department of Health is offering free two-hour training sessions on how to recognize, prevent and respond to an opioid overdose by using intranasal naloxone, a prescription medication used to reverse an overdose. Due to limited seating, preregistration is required.
Training Dates
- 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 - North Point Library, 1716 Merritt Blvd., Dundalk
- 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 - Rosedale Library, 6105 Kenwood Ave., Rosedale
Who Should Attend?

Individuals concerned that a loved one is at risk for overdosing on heroin or prescription pain medication and those with certificates that will expire within the next three months are encouraged to attend this training.
Individuals with questions about renewing their certificates should call the Bureau of Behavioral Health at 410-887-3828.

Training participants will learn:
- What an opioid is
- How to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose
- How to administer intranasal naloxone to reverse an overdose
What Is Naloxone?
Naloxone is a prescription medicine that reverses an opioid overdose. It cannot be used to get high and it is not addictive.
What Will I Get for Completing the Training?
You will receive a completion certificate, a prescription for naloxone and a kit containing the medication.
