BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The Baltimore County Department of Health has run out of at-home test kits for COVID-19.

On Tuesday morning, health officials reported the county was completely out of at-home tests and was working to procure additional kits.

One Patch reader reported going on Monday to the Sears in White Marsh, where at-home test kits were to be provided at one of the county's vaccination sites, only to find they had run out before the site opened and distribution was to begin at 3 p.m.

News about the lack of test kits comes the day after County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. declared a state of emergency in Baltimore County due to the spread of COVID-19 and an increase in hospitalizations related to the virus. As part of the declaration, a new public health order will take effect from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, until Jan. 31, 2022, requiring those ages 5 and up to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces in Baltimore County.
