Baltimore County Under Tornado Warning

BREAKING: The National Weather Service has placed part of Baltimore County under a tornado warning due to a storm with rotation.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A tornado warning has been issued for Baltimore County until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Radar detected rotation with a severe thunderstorm that was between Hampstead and Parkville before 9 p.m. and was moving northeast at 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

North-central Baltimore County is impacted, and people in this area should take cover, officials advised.

"For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely," the tornado warning said. "This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central Baltimore County, including the following locations: Freeland, Bentley Springs and Maryland Line."
