A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. A barricade situation that had part of Joppa Road in Towson closed during rush hour Tuesday has ended peacefully. Elise Armacost, a police spokeswoman, said a woman barricaded herself in her home in the 1300 block of E. Joppa Road around 5:16 p.m. Police closed down a portion of the main thoroughfare during the height of rush hour, diverting traffic through nearby Loch Raven Village. The standoff began when the woman became "distraught over a domestic situation," Armacost said. Initially, the woman refused to come out of the home when police arrived. The woman was alone in the home. There were guns found inside but they were not involved in the incident with police, Armacost said. She did leave peacefully around 6:45 p.m. and was taken to a local hospital, Armacost said.
