GF Hotels & Resorts out of Philadelphia, PA are the new operators of the Dwtn-Charm City Renaissance Harborplace Hotel. They are also owners of the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel located in Towson, MD. The 283-284 room hotel is located in the business-district of Towson and connected by sky-walk to the Towson Town Center, the largest mall in the State of Maryland. Combined with the 622 rooms of the Renaissance, GF Hotels & Resorts can provide over 900 rooms in the Baltimore-Towson area.
Their Baltimore-Towson portfolio of the Renaissance & Sheraton Baltimore North will increase potential business that links conferences that want to expand their boundaries. 2-3 day conventions at the Sheraton Baltimore North Towson can take shuttle buses to downtown B'more to see Orioles games or explore Fells Point, Fed Hill or Harbor East. The Sheraton Baltimore North GM Kenneth "Skip" Cerf and Executive Chef Peels both have previous ties to the Renaissance Hotel.
The Renaissance & Sheraton Baltimore North both operate under the Marriott International-flag (Bonvoy). The PM Hotel Group (Buccini/Pollin) acquired the Renaissance in July 2020 for 80 million dollars. The PM Hotel Group Corporate Office (Chevy Chase, MD.) & Marriott International Corporate Office (Bethesda, MD) are both located on Wisconsin Avenue, the DC-area.
Pollin (David B.) is a relative of Abe Pollin, the former owner of the Baltimore (1963-73) & Washington Bullets (NBA) that became the Washington Wizards in 1997. Mr. Pollin is often credited with revitalizing Downtown-DC by building the Capital One Center, home of the Wizards and Capitals (NHL). Abe was a native of Philadelphia, he passed away on November 24, 2009 at the age of 85.
