Neighbors in Loch Raven Village had complained about lights and noise from night games at Calvert Hall's baseball stadium.

will limit its night baseball games next year, under a new agreement with its neighbors.

The memorandum of understanding, which takes effect next fall, was signed in August by Calvert Hall president Brother Thomas Zoppo and last week by Loch Raven Village Community Association president Gretchen Sarkin.

It also includes rules governing when Calvert Hall will host night games at Carlo Crispino Stadium and how sounds, lights, parking and fireworks will be managed. The stadium hosts Calvert Hall's own teams, in addition to Baltimore Redbirds and other games.

The agreement, which is not legally binding, won't solve all problems, Sarkin said, but "I understand where they're coming from. For them it's a business and they need to attract the best that they can get to the school."

Sarkin, who lives across the street from the stadium on Putty Hill Avenue, has long had to deal with the lights during night games several days a week during the summer.

"My hope is that this document eventually leads to a multi-year agreement between Loch Raven Village and Calvert Hall College, and that my resolution before the Planning Board helps avoid similar controversies across the county," Marks said in an email.
