City Installing New Water Valves on Stevenson Lane

Stevenson Lane could see traffic backups during construction next month, and residents in central Baltimore County could experience water outages.

Baltimore City is asking drivers to use caution or alternate routes for most of November as crews replace water valves on Stevenson Lane, Department of Public Works officials said in a press release.

Flagmen and lane closures will be in place on Stevenson Lane from Tuesday, Nov. 1 through Monday, Nov. 21.

The work will complete the first phase of $25 million in improvements to the Towson Reservoir at 401 Hillen Rd., set to be finished in 2013. The reservoir, built in 1927, will hold 16 million gallons of treated water (up from 9 million) when the renovation is complete.

The city does not expect water service to be impacted but in the event of low water pressure, residents from the city line north to Hunt Valley and northeast to Carney could experience water outages (see the attached map for details). The city advises keeping several days worth of water on hand.
