County Extends Parking Time on Pennsylvania Avenue

After business owners petitioned, county traffic engineers installed new signs last week.

Diners paid their tab and found parking tickets. Attorneys' clients had to sprint out to feed their meters.

None of that anymore, as county traffic officials changed the parking in the unit block of West Pennsylvania Avenue from one to two hours, County Councilman David Marks said. New signs went up last week.

The block is home to restaurants like , and , along with law offices, a travel agency, a bridal shop and .

The and businesses on that block  in December, then traffic engineers conducted a study.

"It's been over six months and it was frustrating but I sort of understand the process that the county went through," said Nancy Hafford, the chamber's executive director. "It just hurt some of the restaurants for a little while but I'm really, really thankful that they looked into it. It's really going to help all those restaurants and bars over there."
