Crews Tear Down Abandoned Buildings at Aigburth Vale
Long an eyesore on Aigburth Road, the neglected buildings are coming down.
The sound of progress on Aigburth Road sounds a little like a demolition crew to Aigburth Manor residents.
Demolition crews were at work on Tuesday to begin tearing down several buildings on the outskirts of theproperty. The senior apartment facility, surrounded by the campus, was also home to other buildings, such as a carriage house and maid's quarters from the mansion's former life.
The buildings had been in a state of disrepair and Aigburth Manor residents had been asking the owners at St. Ambrose Housing to do something about the buildings for years, the Towson Times reports. More recently, Baltimore County Councilman David Marks also expressed concern.

The work being done now is indication that the complaints have been heeded. Last week, contractors removed asbestos, and on Tuesday, demolition crews began to tear down the outbuildings, furniture and all.
Marks told Patch he plans to follow up with St. Ambrose to "see if the area can remain green and unpaved."
