'Ellen Show' to Film on TU Campus

Staff for Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show are in town to film a segment tomorrow evening.

Update (2:23 p.m.)—The show's production crew will be at West Village Commons at 5 p.m., university spokeswoman Gay Pinder told Patch.

Towson will get some free national publicity very soon, courtesy of The Ellen Show.

The show will be filming on the campus of on Wednesday at 5 p.m., according to university spokeswoman Gay Pinder.

"Whatever it is, it's sure to be off-the-wall fun," Pinder said. "As of right now I really don't know what they'll be doing."

Pinder said an Ellen producer from the Baltimore area suggested Towson as a possible location for an upcoming feature with correspondent Jeannie Klisiewicz. Ellen DeGeneres herself won't be there.

A location hasn't yet been finalized for the Wednesday shoot, but will be announced on the university's Twitter feed.

, executive director of the , couldn't recall the last time the university name got a nod on national television besides the Towson University marching band's 2009 showing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Naturally, she's ecstatic for the free publicity.

"It's amazing how we've hit the charts," she said. "I hope the residents and the business owners realize that Towson is not some rinky-dink town in the United States. Our name has come up a lot over the last year, so this is a great thing for Towson."
