"Rent" at Towson University

Towson University presents the Broadway musical "Rent," written by Jonathan Larson. The university is putting on 11 shows of the musical. The Wednesday and Thursday productions start at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday, May 1 show starts at 2 p.m.

"Rent," a rock opera loosely based on Puccini’s "La bohème," tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive in the Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Some content may not be appropriate for children.

At the Friday shows, organizations will host tables outside with information on homelessness, health issues, gender equality and HIV/AIDS awareness. A mobile HIV testing unit will be on site.
