A furniture store is opening a new location in Baltimore County. It will be the county's first plan and order point.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — Swedish furniture store IKEA will open its second Baltimore County location on Wednesday.
Located in the Hunt Valley Towne Centre at 118 Shawan Road in Cockeysville, this store will be a plan and order point, not a full showroom.
There will be a small selection of furniture on display, but the primary purpose is to review catalogs with an IKEA employee and place an order for shipment. Customers will have the option to pick up their deliveries at the IKEA plan and order point.

"While customers will still have to visit IKEA Baltimore to indulge in our iconic Swedish meatballs, in our plan and order points, customers can get support from an IKEA expert with planning and ordering home furnishing solutions that require a bit more help, such as kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms," IKEA Local Marketing Manager Jonathan Dean told Patch in an email. "While customers are unable to take products home that day, they will also have the option to pick up purchases made online at the pick-up location."
IKEA has full showrooms in White Marsh, which is marketed as the Baltimore store, and College Park. IKEA has locations for pick-up only in Beltsville and Perryville.

We’re continuously testing, exploring, and developing our formats to bring our customers the best shopping experiences possible," Dean said. "While we continue to look for ways to expand in the state of Maryland, we have no updates to share at this time. We look forward to sharing more as our plans develop."
