
The cyber security team at Loyola Blakefield has claimed a worldwide honor.
The team, which consists of students Patrick Lagator, James Lortz, James Gaitan, Evan Byrd, Ian Dalton and Mike O’Brien, finished first in the 2013 Global Cyberlympics on July 15, according to the school's website. The competition sought to find the world's top computer network defense team.
The Cyberlympics, which debuted this year, is the first international ethical hacking and computer network defense competition, according to the event's Facebook group.
More than 70 teams competed, the release states. The final six teams were all based in the U.S.
