A Presidential Visit to Towson?

When Oregon State University's men's basketball team travels to this weekend, they might be bringing a very famous fan with them.

First Lady Michelle Obama, sister to Beavers head coach Craig Robinson, could be making the trip from Washington for Towson's home opener.

The First Lady's public schedule shows no events for Saturday. Dan O'Connell, director of media relations for the Tigers, couldn't confirm if a White House visit was in the works.

"We have heard nothing official, so I can't really say anything," O'Connell said. "This is one of those deals where just because it may happen doesn't mean it will, and we won't find out for sure until a couple hours beforehand."

Robinson came to Oregon State as head coach in 2008 and the Obamas have seen the team play twice in the Washington, DC area, at George Washington in 2009 and at Howard in 2010, according to The (Eugene, OR) Register-Guard.

Towson is the Beavers' final East Coast stop this season, and the closest they'll get to Washington. Oregon State (4-1) is coming off a trip to East Rutherford, NJ for the TicketCity Legends Classic Championship, where they beat Texas 100-95 in overtime, then dropped a close game to Vanderbilt, 64-62.

The young Towson (0-4) team—which returned no starters from last year's lineup—comes home after a tough stretch that included nationally-ranked Kansas, Michigan and Belmont in the mainland round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Tickets to the Saturday game are still available via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WBAL radio.
