Nando's PERi PERi In Towson Giving Away Chicken For Mandela Day

Donate new school supplies at one Towson restaurant on Monday, and receive a free meal.

TOWSON, MD — Those who want to score a free chicken and chips can visit Nando's PERi-PERi to celebrate Mandela Day on Monday. July 18 is Mandela Day, in honor of the birthday of Nelson Mandela.

A quarter chicken and chips — which is Nando's signature meal — will be provided to those who visit any location and donate new school supplies for underserved local children and schools, officials say.

The free meals will be provided from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 18.

"Mandela Day holds a special place in our hearts and we hope that Nando’s fans everywhere will embrace this iconic day of giving,” Nando’s Chief Brand Officer Sepanta Bagherpour said in a statement. “So swing by and enjoy some delicious PERi-PERi flame-grilled chicken and chips on the house, and please make a donation of school supplies for underserved children in our communities.”

Nando's restaurants will donate 67 meals to charitable organizations in acknowledgment of Mandela's 67-year-long fight for social justice, according to a statement from the company.

All Nando’s locations in the United States, which includes Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and the Chicago area, will pass along school supplies and donations to area nonprofit organizations.
