A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. There's a place right up the street in Towson where soon, you'll be able to hang out with Frosty, talking reindeer and even Santa Claus himself. Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, invited Towson Patch to check out Santa's new-and-improved workshop. Santa's new digs are right next door in the former Country Curtains store on Shealy Avenue, where they've been relocated since the former Storehouse Furniture was. The old Country Curtains still has walls and windows once used to show off curtains, creating an interesting setup for Hafford. "The kids will go through a whole maze of decorated characters," she said. About six of those inflated characters are holdovers from last year, but many are new. The workshop opens after the Baltimore County tree lighting on Dec. 3, and it will be open for several Winterfest events in December. See the attached schedule for details.
