PHOTOS: Fans Turn Out for Ellen
The talk show filmed on the Towson University campus Wednesday evening.
On mere hours notice, more than 1,000 students and other fans from the Baltimore area staged an early Halloween celebration for a live recording of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Show correspondent Jeannie Klisiewicz was reporting outside the university's West Village Commons building Wednesday evening. Earlier that afternoon, the show asked fans on its Twitter feed to show up dressed as a "creative character" from any book for a chance to win prizes.
And so they did—some as Captain Underpants, Harry Potter and even as DeGeneres herself.

Klisiewicz and staffers went through the throngs of fans 5 p.m. to select the best costumes. The finalists then competed for a grand prize worth $5,000 by performing a dramatic reading from DeGeneres's book, Seriously ... I'm Kidding.
Check out Patch's photos and tune in to the show Thursday at 4 p.m. on WBAL-TV.
