Towson Residents Rallying for National Night Out

The event is a partnership between Baltimore County Police and Citizens on Patrol.

To show that crime is not welcome in Towson, locals are banding together to commemorate National Night Out.

The event, also called America's Night Out Against Crime, began in 1984 as a way to build relationships between the police and community members, promote involvement in crime prevention activities and show a united front against crime, according to the National Association of Town Watch website.

National Night Out in Towson will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6 in front of the Toys R Us at 1238 Putty Hill Avenue, according to an informational flyer announcing the event. After a group photo on a Providence Volunteer fire truck, there will be a police escorted motorcade through 24 Towson area neighborhoods.
