Winter Storm Watch Issued For Baltimore County

Snow, rain and ice are in the forecast this weekend in Baltimore County, prompting an alert from the National Weather Service.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of Maryland, including parts of Baltimore County, from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning. It calls for up to 5 inches of snow and up to 0.1 inch ice.

Snow and ice will not be the only complicating weather factors. Wind gusts may be up to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Roads may be slippery, and the Monday morning commute may be impacted, officials advised.

The winter storm watch is in effect from 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16, to 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17.

About 1 to 3 inches of snow are "most likely," according to the National Weather Service, which reported snow may fall at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour late Sunday afternoon and early Sunday night. Roads may become nearly impassable, according to authorities.
