You Tell Us: Ways to Avoid Crime
Police say there are few trends in downtown Towson, with most being crimes of opportunity.

Recent police blotter entries had residents wondering, but Towson's top cop says there are no trends in downtown Towson.
Early on May 5, a man was then led to an ATM to withdraw more cash. On April 23, a couple was in a Towson Town Center garage. Both raised a stir among Patch commenters.
"They're crimes of opportunity, mostly, in Towson," says Capt. Jonathan Trentszch, commander.

The only trend Trentsch's officers are tracking right now involves street robberies around Hillsway Avenue in Hillendale on the eastern edge of the precinct, the first robbery trend he's seen since he .
Police also recently arrested a suspect in a string of Towson bank robberies. Trentzsch said confessed to the robberies.

Trentzsch urged residents to use street smarts wherever they are.
"I would tell people, like if my family's coming to Towson, be aware of your surroundings, pay attention," he said. "If something feels in your gut like this isn't right then take some cautionary steps."
