Joan Liptrot has been promoted as the new executive director of the Center for Experience and Opportunity (CEO) at McDaniel College.
Liptrot joined McDaniel in 2023 as director of international and off-campus programs and has more than 30 years of experience in education.
During her career, she has worked with students and adults to develop innovative programs, create meaningful engagement strategies, and cultivate partnerships, which aligns with her new role overseeing the work of the CEO, its programs and initiatives. As the executive director, she works closely with academic departments, as well as community partners, and plays a key role in developing experiential learning opportunities for McDaniel students in support of the McDaniel Commitment.

Previously, Liptrot was director of service and civic engagement at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where she supported service learning and directed the Bonner Community Scholars program, provided oversite to the Rider Resource Pantry, and led the universityβs nationally recognized Rider Votes initiative. She was also a member of the Trenton Area Stakeholders and served on the Mayorβs Work Force Development Committee.
Prior to working in higher education, she served as executive director of the Institute for Global Education and Service Learning. She also provided technical assistance to K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and community and faith-based organizations.

She has a bachelorβs degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University.
