The future of Westminster is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Julia Ellis, who are making a positive impact in and around Westminster.

Julia is a standout young leader in Carroll County recognized for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award in 2024 for her project, "Sources of Strength Posters." Her project aimed to promote well-being by creating accessible posters that represent the eight sources of strength β€” such as Mentors, Mental Health, and Family Support β€” helping students and faculty engage with these vital community pillars. The Gold Award, achieved by only 6% of eligible Girl Scouts nationwide, requires girls to complete a service-oriented project that addresses a community issue, dedicating a minimum of 80 hours to development and implementation.

Through this project, Julia demonstrated strong leadership and a commitment to mental health advocacy, leaving a lasting impact on her school. Her work has made a meaningful difference in fostering a supportive and positive environment for students and faculty alike.
