Ambulance Crash In Wheaton Injures Several People, Including Kid

WHEATON, MD — Several people, including a child, were injured Thursday afternoon when an ambulance and several other vehicles collided at a busy intersection in Wheaton, officials said.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Georgia and Arcola avenues.

Two members of the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad — who were responding to a call in Kensington — were hospitalized as a precaution, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. A child in one of the cars was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The good thing is none of the injuries are serious," said fire and rescue spokesman Pete Piringer. "We did have some folks that were injured and taken to the hospital, but it seems they are gonna be okay."

Portions of Georgia and Arcola avenues were temporarily blocked as a result of the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
