Community Meeting: What's the Plan for Brookside Gardens?

The April 24 meeting will be about the Master Plan for Brookside Gardens and concepts for a new growing greenhouse.

At an April 24 community meeting, the public will have the opportunity to review proposed recommendations for Brookside Gardens, particularly regarding a concept plan for a new growing greenhouse within the maintenance area located at 12315 Fernmont Lane in Wheaton Regional Park.

The meeting will take place from 7-8 p.m. in the auditorium at the Brookside Gardens Visitors Center, 1800 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton, MD 20902.

The Montgomery County Planning Board approved the Brookside Gardens Master Plan in 2005, providing a long-term vision of the Gardens; some refinements to this plan will also be discussed at the meeting, according to Montgomery Parks:

The 2005 Master Plan proposed that the propagation and maintenance area be reconfigured to consolidate office space and to provide expanded storage and growing space.  The proposed update suggests better utilizing existing structures and allowing improvements to be made at a smaller scale pending funding availability.
