Police Identify Man Found Dead In Roadway In Wheaton
A man who was found dead on a road in Wheaton Sunday night was identified as a Silver Spring resident, police said.

WHEATON, MD — A man who was found dead on a road in Wheaton Sunday night was identified as a Silver Spring resident, Montgomery County Police announced.
The man was found at 10:01 p.m. in the 11800 block of Huggins Dr. It is unclear how he sustained his injuries, but he suffered trauma to the head and chest, police said.
Police identified the victim as Omar Rivas Cardenas of Sampson Road. His birth year is 1966, but detectives have not yet confirmed the birth month and day, police said.

Cardenas was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Since it's unclear how Cardenas was killed, Major Crimes and Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives continue to conduct a joint investigation.
