Video: Attempted Robbery At Wheaton Metro Bus Bay Under Investigation

WHEATON, MD — Montgomery County Police released a surveillance video of a man they say tried to rob someone at the Wheaton Metro Bus Bay on Oct. 29, according to a police release.

Officers responded around 10:35 p.m. for the report of an attempted robbery at the bus bay, which is located in the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue.

The victim told police that the suspect started following and yelling at him inside the Wheaton Metro station. When the victim tried to enter the Ride on Bus, he was grabbed by the suspect and pulled to the ground, according to police. After kicking and hitting the victim, the suspect searched the victim's clothing and then left the area without stealing any property.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue provided medical treatment for the victim, who had sustained minor injuries.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s, who was of average height and medium build, with black curly hair. The man was was wearing black glasses, blue jeans, black shoes, and an orange and blue hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the video or who as information about this incident is asked to call the 4th District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530 or 240-773-TIPS. Tipsters can also contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.
