Wheaton Costco One of Three to Come in D.C. Area

Three new Costcos will raise the count in the D.C. metropolitan area from 16 to 19, reports the Washington Post.

• Costco at : Scheduled to open later this year.
• Costco at the Shops at Dakota Crossing in Northeast D.C.: Scheduled to open in August.
• Costco in Alexandria: Scheduled to open in spring 2013.

The Post interviewed David Ward, whose brokerage firm, H&R Retail, represents Costco locally:

"Ward said Costco’s chairman, Jeffrey Brotman, is involved in all of the site selections, and is very deliberate in his choices. Costco looks for locations that can accommodate plenty of parking spaces as its bulk-buying customers typically drive out to its stores."
