3K Without Power, Trees Down Across MA As Fierce Winds Gust To 60 MPH: See Latest Forecast
Downed trees took out power lines in several Greater Boston cities and towns as the bitter blast of cold air came rushing into New England.
MASSACHUSETTS — Nearly 3,000 Bay State customers were without power as of Tuesday morning as winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour took out trees in several Greater Boston cities and towns.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency reported 2,645 customers without service as of mid-morning, with 378 customers in the dark in North Andover.
More than 100 customers were also without power in Lexington, Lincoln and Westford.

A High Wind Warning and High Wind Advisory remained in effect across interior Massachusetts with winds expected to gust to 60 mph or higher throughout Tuesday — causing wind chills to hover around zero as the temperature struggled to reach the low 20s.
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," the NWS said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result. ... Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution."

According to FlightAware, there were 76 flight delays out of Logan Airport as of 10:15, with 24 flights canceled.
The top wind gust reported at Logan Airport early Tuesday morning was 59 mph.
Winds will remain strong into Tuesday night amid frigid temperatures and below-zero wind chills. Tuesday night's forecast low was 22 degrees with westerly wind gusts to 37 mph.
It should calm down a bit for New Year's Eve with partly sunny skies most of the day and a high of 32 degrees. Wind gusts will be in the 20 mph range.
There is a growing chance for some First Night snow with up to 2 inches possible — starting right around midnight — on Cape Cod, and a coating to an inch across the Bay State.
The extended holiday weekend is looking cold and calm with highs near freezing each day.
