BOSTON, MA — It's challenging to narrow down where to eat in Boston given the city's place in America's culinary landscape.

Enter Eater, which has once again published its list of the 38 essential restaurants in and around the city.

The quarterly update added two new restaurants to the list for 2025, which includes Back Bay's La Padrona and Quincy Vietnamese restaurant Lê Madeline.

Eater's list is meant for all sorts of diners, including price point guidance, tips on how to get a seat and, of course, recommendations on can't miss dishes and drinks.

It centers the city, but reaches as far as Newton and Quincy for some locations, including the aforementioned Lê Madeline and Newtown's Thistle & Leek.
